REF NO: HO 2026/11/26 Directorate: Non-Communicable Diseases and Support Services REQUIREMENTS: Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in Nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. A minimum of nine [9] ye ars appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 4 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level. Computer literat e. Valid driver’s licence. Competencies And Attributes: Knowledge of nursing care process and procedure, nursing statutes and other relevant legal frameworks, including the grievance procedure and disciplinary code and procedure. Financial management, problem solving, decision making and facilitation skills. Ability to plan, organize, lead and control. Project, conflict management, training and development skills. Good report writing and time management skills. Ensuring confidentiality. Understanding of public service policies and legislative framework. Service delivery and client orientation. Integrity, honesty and assertiveness. Willingness to travel. NOTE: Appointment under the Public Service Act. DUTIES: Develop, implement, monitor and review policies, programmes, guidelines and standard operating procedures relating to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), special care and therapeutic and medical services. Coordinate and oversee the prevention, management and control of non-communicable diseases within correctional centres. Coordinate and monitor the provision of therapeutic and medical support services within the department. Develop, implement, monitor and review medical parole policies, procedures and guidelines. Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans relating to NCDs, special care and therapeutic services. Management of human resources, finance and assets. Management of performance information.
