Assistant Chief Engineer – Private Island, Fiji Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Assistant Chief Engineer to join an exclusive private island property in Fiji. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional to support the maintenance and smooth operation of all facilities within a luxury island environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Chief Engineer with the daily management of engineering and maintenance operations. Oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, machinery and infrastructure. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure all systems operate efficiently. Assist with managing electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning, refrigeration and other essential systems. Respond promptly to technical issues and maintenance requests. Supervise and support the engineering team, ensuring work is completed to a high standard. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintenance procedures. Assist with monitoring maintenance budgets, equipment inventory and the sourcing of spare parts. Support energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable maintenance practices. Requirements: Previous experience in an engineering or maintenance role within a luxury hotel, resort or remote island property. A relevant technical qualification in engineering or a related field. Strong knowledge of building maintenance, electrical systems, plumbing and general engineering operations. Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and organisational skills. The ability to lead and motivate a team whilst remaining hands-on. Flexibility to work in a remote island environment and respond to operational requirements. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining exceptional property standards. Salary: Market-related, dependent on experience.
